Evans Bay - A Beautiful Waterfront
with old industrial buildings, stunning boat sheds
and modern new housing
Evans Bay and Greta Point are one of Wellington’s premium suburbs. 5 minutes to the city and airport, the bay is a great place to live, work, play, even better if you can do all three.
Here are the recent updates around Evans Bay regarding the take down of the patent slip jetty, new bike lanes and new housing situations at the lovely Greta Point.
The bay holds rich and fascinating history in Wellington. First inhabited by the indigenous Māori people, the area was a popular fishing spot due to the abundance of seafood in the bay.
In the early 1800s, European settlers arrived and established Wellington as a port town. Evans Bay became a hub for shipbuilding and served as a naval base during world war two and was a key part of their trade routes and provided a source of food and resources.
