Hey,
I just wanted to give you a heads-up about something happening in town. Lambton Quay is going to be completely closed off to traffic this Sunday, 17 December, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It’s all because the Christmas Parade is rolling through, which sounds exciting, but it’s going to cause quite a bit of disruption if you’re planning to head into the city. Basically, all private vehicles, buses, and even scooters are going to be kept out of the area during those hours. The closure starts at the intersection with Bowen Street and goes all the way down to the Willis and Customhouse Quay intersection. They’re even cutting off side streets like Featherston Street, Panama Street, and Grey Street. For those who rely on buses, Metlink has announced some detours, so anyone needing public transport should check their website to figure out alternative routes. On the bright side, footpaths are staying open, so you can still walk into the area. But if you’re driving or cycling, you’ll need to make other plans. It’s all part of making sure the parade runs smoothly, which is fair enough, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind if you’re out and about that day. I’m hoping the festivities will make up for the inconvenience. Do you think you’ll head into the city to watch it, or are you steering clear of the chaos?
Sincerely,
Mila Prescott
