On the recent Prendergast Led group announcement.
Unmitigated disaster.
Meikle for Thornden No, Yes, Maybe. If I’m back from India.

Pierson for Mayor No, Maybe, I don’t know, YES..Um I’m not sure yet?

Boucher. I’m left right out.
Boucher for survival. I played a major part in creating this mess, so I may be duty bound to fix it.
I think it’s definitely plausible that the group that have popped up to help Wellington, will have an impact, but the unintended impact at present is a gift to the cities worst NIGHT MAYOR in decades Tory Whanau.
It’s a lightening rod for her fundraisers and people that had given up on her. She was out for the count, the greens were slowly un bundling and Labour were preparing to pop the last nail in the coffin.
It is possible it won’t have a disastrous impact from the perspective of the 18. But it’s given Whanau a big boost, from many the left who had previously given up on her. These people won’t allow the city’s elite to tell them what to do in the middle and the hard left will respond with more of their ideological terrorism. It’s Game on!
People are confused about what the campaign is due to poor messaging and assuming it’s a vast right wing conspiracy.
Its a situation of what drives all elections – Negative partisanship – motivated by hatred of the other side and remember Foster calling Whanau Tory from marketing. She is a killer in the war room with Thomas Nashi g his teeth, Tam Paul whipping up the base and J.A.G with her mitts firmly on the tiller.
This group that announced in The Post seems like a “misstep” when it could have been something useful if they were clear about their objectives.
All came across as rightwing elites “ living in Wanaka and Waikanae, always out of Wellington on glorious trips “watching whales mating in Africa” – pushing their own agenda. “Off to the Ballet again”.
Not clear what they’re trying to achieve. Claims to be non-political but includes people who are exploring running for council. It’s been badly managed, has assumed the best and hasn’t been considered the worst. Missed opportunity.
Having the owner of MSM The Post was an unmitigated disaster, similar to having Graham Bloxham in the group. I reached out to Bloxham and he reiterated how odd it all felt. He said there were a couple people in that group he thinks are great Wellingtonian’s and he worries for their legacy.
He shows me a graph pf evidence that his ONE NETWORK WL now has “much greater reach and engagement” that “all MSM Wellington channels”, and having Boucher shows how desperate “she is” and what bad judgment this campaign has chosen to move with.
Bloxham says about Boucher “It basically says without saying. I’ve shifted from the hard left where we supported Labor & The greens to romp home – to support the right elites – Remember Anna Fifield ??
From Bloxham’s perspective, anything that involves the rotting MSM is open game. It’s actually the curse of the Post front page that will cost the right this time.
Bloxham goes on to say.
It’s the same as the last two times. Big egos jockeying for power and glory. No idea how to address the green – red base digital footprint, other than to post aggressive tiktoks. Split the vote, send confusing messaging = LOSE!
It’s opportunistic this came in October, exactly 12 months out, which is when Whanau started her run 2 years ago.
The same thing has happened but it’s her opposition this time that has handed her the keys back to the city, and she has now had grown another leg.
Let’s hope this group can clear up their messaging, jettison the sea anchors, get clear messaging, be non political, or every dollar spent by them will be $50c each way.
