Campbell Barry wouldn’t front for a meeting with Wellington LIVE to answer the questions levelled at him from ratepayers about the council he leads.
Questions from ratepayers:
1. How can you be independent when you belong to the Labour party?
2. $100m “Corporate Overheads” that United Hutt claims you have put in the budget. What is that being spent on?
3. Do you support 6m high houses next to one another?
4. Did you have insider information about the current home you purchased?
5. What is your plan to keep rates down below 8%?
6. Is there any truth that 200 staff have moved through Hutt Council with you as Mayor?
7. Do you support Amalgamation of councils?
8. Will you be standing as a MP for the Remutaka seat to replace the Labour candidate, Chris Hipkins next year?
9. What impact did Covid take on your as Mayor and would you have done anything differently?
