Autism NZ are working to empower autistic people and the wider autism community.
At their National Office based in Petone, they deliver a range of services, such as education, support, and helping workplaces understand about neurodiversity in the workplace.
Part of their work is helping people to develop an understanding of what autism is, including challenging stereotypes many people have about autism. Watch this video to gain a better understanding of some of the autism stereotypes that are out there.
Autism NZ is working hard to provide support for autistic people and the wider autism community however they are limited in what they can do by the funding that they have available to them.
“There is so much more that we would like to be able to do, but we just don’t have the funding to do it,” Dane Dougan, CEO.
Autism NZ needs support. So, Wellington Live are embracing the challenge by starting a giving game.
