Christopher Luxon Sends Vaisakhi Wishes

PM Luxon Sends Vaisakhi Wishes

Today, communities around the world are celebrating Vaisakhi, a vibrant and meaningful festival. On this occasion, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon extended warm wishes to the Sikh community in New Zealand, in India, and across the world.

“Happy Vaisakhi to all who are celebrating — a time to honour faith, culture, and community spirit,” said the Prime Minister.

🌾 What is Vaisakhi?

Vaisakhi is a major festival for Sikhs and Punjabis. It is celebrated every year on April 13 or 14.

Firstly, it marks the harvest season in Punjab. Farmers celebrate their hard work and thank the land for its blessings.

Secondly, it honors the birth of the Khalsa in 1699. On this day, Guru Gobind Singh Ji created a strong, united Sikh community committed to justice and service.

As a result, Sikhs gather at gurdwaras, enjoy traditional food, and take part in parades and prayers.

🇳🇿 Why It Matters in New Zealand

New Zealand is proud of its diverse communities. Among them, the Sikh community plays an important role.

For example, Sikhs contribute in farming, business, health, education, and many other sectors. Their values of kindness, hard work, and service are deeply appreciated.

Therefore, the Prime Minister’s message shows support and respect. It reflects New Zealand’s values of unity, inclusion, and multiculturalism.

✨ A Shared Celebration

PM Luxon’s Vaisakhi message is more than just a greeting. It is a reminder of the power of togetherness.

Today, as families and communities come together, we celebrate the start of a new season filled with hope, gratitude, and strength.

From all of us at Wellington Live,
