Friend to many, a colourful rough diamond, passionate Wellingtonian, and social media owner.
Introduction
I am a father and a determined businessman who doesn’t easily take “no” for an answer. In my journey, I’ve made mistakes, like bad parking or challenging staff on agreements, which sometimes caused situations to spiral. I also allowed online bullies and manipulators to fester, believing that ignoring them would make them fade away, but that didn’t happen. Instead, their attacks escalated into an orchestrated movement aimed at personal abuse and the hacking of our pages and audiences. Some of them participate for laughs, but a troubling few act illegally and aggressively, creating a toxic community of abusers.
It all started when I purchased Wellington LIVE from Lilia Alexander with another Wellington businessman. After some time, that businessman sold his share back to me and then, along with Lilia, attempted to destroy what I had legally and ethically purchased in what was a fair and normal sale & purchase deal.
Over the past two years, my family, my team, and I have been at the centre of a targeted campaign of harassment and defamation. All evidence has been provided to the Police, META, and NETSAFE, as many abusers attack during work hours from their workplaces. One instance involved a senior public official from Treasury hurling abuse at us. Despite these efforts, little action has been taken.
This ongoing abuse has not only impacted my professional life but also the personal lives of my family, colleagues, and clients. One abuser even threatens our potential clients by warning them that if they advertise with ONE NETWORK, their Google ratings will be attacked.
Today, I am sharing my story to reclaim my identity and set the record straight. This is not an attempt to defend myself from false accusations, but a way to expose the harassment I have endured and stand up against those who seek to damage my reputation.
The Beginning: A Business Journey Tainted by Conflict
Two years ago, when I purchased Wellington LIVE, it wasn’t with the intention of transforming it into the modern media network it has become today. ONE NETWORK is now ranked #3, behind The Herald and a mix of News hub and Stuff. Its reach and engagement are significantly larger than platforms like Newstalk ZB, The Post, and Scoop.
WHO WE ARE
However, as the platform grew, so did the challenges. On a personal level, I empathise with Alexander, as she built a wonderful page filled with updates on earthquakes, fires, and AROHA. But as Facebook grew in popularity, nearly everyone shifted from traditional media to smartphones and social platforms. It must have been difficult for Lilia to witness the transformation of Wellington LIVE.
Just days after the sale was finalised, Alexander asked to buy it back, but I declined. I explained that I had not purchased it simply to sell it back immediately.
Things took a new turn after I filmed the violent conclusion of the “unprecedented Wellington protest,” where I captured footage of bricks being thrown. This event catapulted Wellington LIVE in a new direction. Overnight, the page’s engagement tripled, but this success also brought about relentless efforts by individuals like Buckley and Alexander to undermine it.
Since then, a small group of people, some formerly close to me, have launched an ongoing campaign of public harassment. This has included persistent attacks, threats of violence, and attempts at character assassination. The spread of false information has had a profound effect on me, my family, my daughters, and my professional relationships.
The campaign has ranged from online harassment to physical threats, including a death threat and incidents of people driving by my home, throwing eggs at the house.
The personal toll has been immense. My home address was made public, resulting in drive-bye and further threats. Recently, someone posted an aerial photo of my house, which has left my daughters feeling stressed and anxious. My relationship with my fiancée has ended, and my mental health has significantly deteriorated due to sleepless nights and constant stress.
Despite all of this, Wellington LIVE continues to grow and now has over two million followers.
Yet, as the platform has expanded, so have the challenges. What began as Lilia’s refusal to grant access to our X account (formerly Twitter) and her withholding of banking access for 18 months has evolved into a coordinated harassment campaign. This escalation eventually led me to take her to court.
Escalating Harassment and Abuse
The harassment I’ve experienced has been relentless, taking on forms that go far beyond cyberbullying.
Wellington City Council (WCC) has been one of the most brutal in this regard, with significant figures like Mayor Tory Whanau, departing CEO Barbara McKerrow, Anna Calver (Marketing & Comms), Richard Levrington (Security Manager), Victoria Barton Chappelle & Richard McLean (Comms Leaders) leading the charge. Their actions, along with a few on the WCC social media team, have ranged from misinformation to personal attacks, lying, telling that i was aggressive and physically attacked someone, which i discovered when we redacted the official information documents.
Probably the saddest came from behind the iron wall, where WCC staff think they can say and do what they like. – the people I pay rates to, the WCC. They have blocked me personally, tried to stifle our progress unsuccessfully, lied, manipulated opinion, hidden information, and even falsely claimed in writing that I had “physically attacked a person” at a basketball game.
Other organisations have followed suit, either encouraging or allowing this toxic narrative to flourish. Groups like WellingtonNZ.com, the Wellington Rugby Union, and 2 local digital agencies have contributed to the ongoing harassment. Their support of WCC’s efforts to block, cancel, and harass us has caused significant damage.
However, there are those who did not join the attacks. STUFF, TVNZ, SKY, and the BBC, whom we partner with on content sharing, have maintained a fair and neutral stance so far.
I appreciate their professionalism during this difficult time.
Below is a comprehensive account of the abuse over the past two years, which has been reported to Police and other authorities—though, disturbingly, little has been done:
- Physical Assault: I was assaulted at the Wellington protest and interviewed by Police, but no further action was taken.
- Death Threat: I received a written death threat, which I forwarded to the Police, but again, no response.
- Home Address Published: My home address was published online, inciting threats of drive-byes. I’ve sent photos to the Police of vehicles driving by my home—still, no action.
- Client Harassment: Clients were emailed and threatened, being told that if they worked with me, they would be targeted.
- Google Reviews Sabotaged: Our Google reviews were attacked, further damaging our reputation.
- False Accusations by WCC Staff: A WCC manager falsely claimed I had physically attacked her. Through an official LGOIMA request, I uncovered 87 pages of abusive communications from WCC staff about me. This included widespread bullying and defamation that continues to this day. The WCC CEO, Barbara McKerrow, and Democratic Services issued a veiled apology, acknowledging the abuse, but no meaningful resolution followed.
- Senior Council Officer Intimidation: Anna Calver, a senior WCC officer, told local business owners that if they supported me, she would cut their council budgets.
- Family and Staff Harassed: My family, staff, and clients have all received abusive emails, adding to the stress we are under.
- Loss of Business: As a result of this harassment, some clients have distanced themselves, refusing to work with us for fear of becoming targets themselves.
- Media Defamation: Radio NZ, The Spinoff, and The Herald have all collaborated to spread false and damaging information about me and my business.
- Phone Threats: I was called and threatened over the phone, being told, “You don’t know who you’re messing with. Watch yourself.” Despite providing evidence to the Police and asking my solicitor to investigate, the Police claimed it was a civil matter.
- Character Assassination: Joel McManus of The Spinoff recently told attendees at the Royal Commission into Child Slavery at Parliament that I was a bad man who records people without their consent and abuses them. A witness felt threatened by this exchange and is willing to provide evidence—yet nothing has been done.
- Targeted Parking Tickets: Over the past five months, my car has been ticketed 17 times and towed twice by WCC. If I park in the city, a parking officer appears within minutes, suggesting I am being specifically targeted.
- Dedicated Harassment Pages: Three Facebook pages have been set up specifically to bully, abuse, and intimidate me and my business. The abuse is escalating, with random people now bullying me in public.
- Public Embarrassment: I was invited to the opening of TAKINA, only to be thrown out by Victoria Burton Chappell.
Throughout this entire ordeal, the Police and other authorities have failed to act. My home has been targeted, my family and I have been placed under immense stress, and my relationship has crumbled under the weight of the harassment. I have provided ample evidence, including a doctor’s letter outlining the impact on my mental health, but still, nothing has been done to protect us.
Bloxham’s Responses and Scorecard for the Abusers
The following details the harassment, bullying, and critiques from Buckley, Christie, Lilia Alexander, Singh, and others, as well as from MSM. Thankfully, it’s a small group, but it’s troubling how ruthlessly they have manipulated others to commit this harassment.
Throughout my social media journey, I’ve faced various criticisms from Buckley, Alexander, Singh, and certain sections of the media, including RNZ and The Spinoff. These moments, though often challenging and impactful to others, and sadly to my family, have shaped my resilience. For example, my ex-wife publicly commented, abused me, and celebrated the publishing of the address where her daughters live. This is the despicable and toxic level this group has reached.
I don’t mind a bit of abuse when I’ve done wrong, but I don’t want or deserve this stress. I don’t want the conflict these hater sites bring daily or the impact it all has on my side.
Here’s a look at some of the key terms used against me that affect my family, along with my responses to them.
- CREEP – Once used to describe me, I simply see it as a reference to a Radiohead song. Rating: 0/10
- “Doesn’t pay his bills” – This stems from “incomplete work” or when one party doesn’t hold up their side of the bargain. Rating: 2/10.
- Domestic Violence – 2009 – Yes, I’ve had a regrettable incident in my past with the mother of my children, Rachel Furniss/Hansra. However difficult that period was, we got back together and lived together for eight more years. During that time, we created a wildly successful social cooking franchise and put our daughters through excellent private schools before divorcing by mutual consent, with no ongoing financial court case. That incident and period in our lives led to a profound personal epiphany—an awakening that forced me to reflect deeply, stop drinking, avoid further trouble, and work my absolute butt off for 11 years. I focused on my family and a positive future for my daughters and whatever life throws at us. I was driven by a fear of failure that I might let my family down, including Furniss Hansra. I worked like a man possessed to build that cooking business up, and exiting it six months before COVID was a hard-earned miracle!
- STALKER – Never have been, never will be. Ironically, the ongoing campaign of terror against me and my family are exactly that, and more, bordering on illegality, abuse, bullying, threats – where does it end. Rating: -0/10.
- BOOMER – Guilty as charged, and bloody proud of it. Rating: 6/10.
- ON DRUGS – No. Medi cannabis Yes – Medication for depression – Yes.
- “Wouldn’t have a clue what he’s doing” – There’s some truth in that initially, but we are extremely proficient now.
- Bad Speller, Grammar, and Linguistics idiot – On spelling and grammar, guilty as charged 👊. As for linguistics, have you met me?. Rating: 4.7/10.
- BAD DRIVER – Always in a hurry. Just ask Ed Burak and Jeremy Coxinator. Rating: 5.1/10.
- BAD PARKER – Absolutely, with a lot of WCC abuse thrown in! But the “unintended consequence” has seen a lot of silly publicity and image creation during Alexander, Buckley, and co’s reign of terror against my family and myself.
- VIOLENT – No.
- BULLY – I don’t consider myself one. I do, however, defend myself when subjected to abuse by public servants or manipulative online critics.
- MAD #unt – No! I’m an Upper Hutt College graduate. Rating: 5.8/10
This section reflects the criticisms I’ve faced and, unfortunately, my family too, but also my growth, my humor, and my unwavering belief in myself. Life’s lessons are often taught through challenges, and I embrace them all.
Facing the Truth: My Experience with Online Abuse and Tax Misrepresentation
I have a clean slate regarding taxes. Previously, I faced a $1.1 million tax bill from the wild 2000s, but I worked it off through the social cooking slog.
Tax Continued: Lilia Alexander posted a huge shout-out to The Spinoff for bullying and abusing Graham to her 37,000 followers, saying publicly how pleased she was that The Spinoff had written I don’t pay tax. This incident almost cost me $15,000 as I had to consider taking her to the High Court to get a full apology from Alexander for lying, bullying, and disruptive behaviour. It was only when Alexander’s high-flying economist father, Greg, stepped in that Lilia apologised for her lying and abusive behaviour. I have always said Lilia is a good person who allowed evil to manipulate her. She is now messaging me through third parties and is ready to “move on with her life” after giving her best shot to destroy mine.
To this day, Alexander won’t hand over the passwords and access to the WL – X account despite numerous requests. What would take five minutes, she refuses to do or engage with, which means we cannot use the account effectively, and she remains in control of that X account.
I have $12 in my account. Somehow, one of the abuser sites has dug around to find a statement to that effect. How sick are these individuals?
The Emotional and Mental Toll
This sustained campaign of abuse has taken a significant toll on my mental health. I haven’t been sleeping. My relationship with my fiancée has ended because of the pressure, and she is deeply distraught. My daughters are stressed, worried about their safety, and struggling to understand why this is happening to our family.
I gave up alcohol 13 years ago, determined to leave behind a chaotic life. But this relentless harassment has stirred up deep emotions—frustration, anger, and even thoughts of suicide. I’ve shared these feelings with the Police, providing them with evidence, medical reports, and detailed accounts of the abuse. But so far, nothing has been done to address the bullying, harassment, and incitement.
Taking Back My Story
Today, I take back control of my story. This is the truth about who I am—a father, a business owner, and a man who refuses to be cowed by bullies.
This is the first of many stories I plan to share about my life, career, and the challenges I’ve faced. I believe in the power of transparency and want to show others who are going through similar struggles that it’s possible to persevere. By standing up and speaking out, I hope to inspire others to reclaim their stories and reject the lies spread by those who seek to tear them down.
This story will stand as a testament to my resilience, and when future attacks arise, it will serve as a clear account of the person I truly am.
The People Behind the Harassment
While many individuals have contributed to this campaign of abuse, the key players include:
- Lilia Alexander – Former owner of Wellington LIVE.
– Jason Buckley – Former business partner. - Nathan Singh – Former business partner.
- Ester Robertson – Ex-employee.
- April Argest – A key individual involved.
- Joel McManus – Spinoff media editor who has publicly defamed me.
- Anna Calver – Senior WCC communications officer.
- Victoria Barton Chappell – WCC communications officer who threw me out of a public event.
These individuals, among others, have caused significant harm to my reputation, business, and personal life. Their actions are at the core of the harassment campaign that I have endured for years.
Moving Forward
Despite everything, Wellington LIVE continues to grow and flourish. We now have over two million followers and remain a leading media platform. Our success speaks to the strength of our community and the value we bring to Wellingtonians.
By sharing my story, I hope to not only defend my name but also to encourage others who may be suffering in silence to speak out. Abuse, harassment, and bullying are never acceptable, and I will continue to fight against it—not just for myself, but for my family, my colleagues, and everyone who believes in honesty and integrity.
This chapter is just the beginning of reclaiming my narrative. I remain committed to my values, my work, and the truth. Together, we can overcome this and continue building a positive and resilient community.
WELLINGTON COMING TOGETHER
One argument and three disagreements at a time.
An excerpt from a text message sent to a friend:
Yes, I am no longer financially involved with the ONE NET WELLINGTON LIVE sites/group, sadly. It was a wild ride, and I learned a huge amount about social media. That journey started with you, Aston. But when the campaign became distorted—brutal, angry, all-consuming, dishonest, and like something of a never-ending online attack fest, it almost became demented. I’m pretty sure that’s what it was.
Pathetic, and all transparent to us. With “a tiny bit of bleeding-edge AI tech,” we could see it—the posts, texts, and many emails discoverable with some low-tech scrapers, etc. It was, and still is, actually, sustained and relentless. At one point, I had a 4-code for Police, and the amount of data the government, police, NETSAFE, Meta, and Google have about it is extraordinarily wasteful. Imagine how much time has been used.
Some of your co-conspirators and angry mates must be happy, though, that they hurt my fiancée so much that we had to separate. The messaging became so crazy she couldn’t escape it. Whoever is at the hub of this is a very, very troubled individual(s). Yep, relationship over. Aston, mate, that’s just so sad, isn’t it? You contributed to the end of our engagement. Yet, I don’t see any apology—nothing, just more abuse. It hurt her so much that it “hurt me” to see her being upset by these bastards. I saw her hurt, which I couldn’t deal with in the end.
The campaign of terror I could handle as a business during the day. I just installed incredible defensive tech that gave us a huge head start. We could see it all. That tech took us into another stratosphere of capabilities. The irony is, their craziness forced us to gear up, and that tech propelled the value skyward. But when the abuse entered the family home, it was too much—at night, that crossed a line. That campaign you played a part in crossed many ethical, moral, and brutality red lines, mate. Their wives and mates must be sick of it all by now, and if they’re not now, they will be soon.
Now, I’m out. I can see it from above. I don’t need it.
I’m the happiest I’ve ever been, you little cunt, Aston! Haha, jokes, mate. The chance of me putting the boot in is very low! Because I’m alive, I have my girls, and no regrets. I’ve still got my breakdancing and cooking skills. I’m good—great, even, as I’ve left the anger and the reaction to brutality behind me/us/them. The only reason I’m still texting is to try and plead my case and wonder why it’s all still going on. We just can’t fathom it all. It’s all unfathomably confusing, hurtful, and for what in the end? Whenever that comes—maybe there is no end to the Singing Bucklberry & Co vs. Bloxham, the great boomer SAGA.
I hope there is, and I hope you can play a role in that, anytime from our side. I thought Jas was a clever, smart man, and at times, he impressed me. Imagine if we worked together to create a new brand for Wellington or something positive for the city—helped find jobs, put on a Christmas concert for the kids—and forgave and moved on. No regrets.
Imagine the power that would bring to others—not to mention the relief to many, including me.
Now, that would be worth talking about.
How a city came together, one fight at a time.
