Dear Bloxy,
We recently returned to Wellington after a few days in Queenstown.
Queenstown is pristine, there are lots of tidy rubbish/recycling bins, there is no graffiti, there is nobody loitering on the footpaths asking for a handout. There is a buzz in the air, everyone has purpose, everyone is loving the town. What a well-run city.
Back in Wellington I walked down a near deserted, dirty, graffitied Courtenay Place, past a broken rubbish bin and a water leak, and was accosted by a homeless man sprawled across the footpath. The place is tired and the people look dispirited and unhappy. How bad can our city get before the Minister steps in and sorts out our Council?
Yours sincerely
Rex Nicholls
