The annual Residents Monitoring Survey (RMS) provides an estimate of what the city population thinks.

One of the key metrics is “I feel a sense of pride in the way Wellington looks and feels” which is now at 50% down from 85%
Main reasons for dissatisfaction with Council decision making process (among dissatisfied respondents)
The biggest dissatisfaction comes from the feeling of the fact that Council doesn’t listen to the people with “Don’t listen to residents” at 38%. Cycle lanes and Political issues/ infighting/ dysfunctional Council come in at 11% each.

WCC says perceived ease of cycling around the city has seen strong improvement over the past three surveys (excludes “don’t know” responses). Related measure of satisfaction with cycling on cycleways shows a similar trend.
