The Measure Anxiety movement is underway. Initiated by The Bloxham Foundation. Wellington Live and One Network’s plea and public awareness program, to engage and encourage Central Government, Regional and local councils, to pause and stop and think about their anxiety-causing decisions and what impact they have.
Not just to act, but to consider. What will this decision mean? If it costs people time or money, will it cause anxiety?
It appears Councils don’t measure time or anxiety. For example, time delays can cause anxiety, constant rate increases, slow consenting, bloated administration, and fees for everything, can have negative anxiety causing impacts on communities.
Initiated by a group of Wellingtonians, It is a social experiment, to measure anxiety from within communities, and better understand if councils are willing to engage.
Based on the principle that any data and engagement can be useful, social media can be uplifting and positive places of gathering, and equally disruptive, through bullying and nasty abuse.
Knowing what often follows anxiety, depression, domestic violence, alcohol abuse, and drug use. Measure Anxiety is hopefully shining a light on this and might help many people, councils, and governments engage, learn, and act.
