UPDATE on ONE NETWORK WL monthly town hall meetings.
Next month, the town hall will have it all, including an LIVE Improx mx show called Lets Get Wellington Grooving.
Last night was a cold dreary but entralling and positive night in Courtenay Precinct – Middle Earth. Settled in at Sugarwoods bar previously, The Establishment. Hosted by the amazing Jose Ubiaga were a jovial group.
Many people were away for school holidays, some in Queenstown, and some had the Wellington college ” ill only go if Myles is invited” bug. The green party gathered online, wonderfully bliss to the fact Wellington is completely fucked and getting worse by the week.
Echoing in the background are the words Whanau, Genter, Tamatha, Geordie, Airport shares, blowjobs, Alcoholic, drugs, has had COVID 7x’s now, doesn’t go to many meetings, new twin tower waterfront offices, 2B debt, $1749 per annum to every ratepayer per annum, ADHD, Autism, The Golden Mile, LGWM, Cycleways, pipes – Gintrap, rates. Nothing really hopeful at all. I’ll have that second wine now, thanks, Blox.
Many people here – scratching their heads. WTF went wrong. Was it Labour, was it the Reserve Bank holding interest rates at 1% for too long, has Nicola fired them all, did they print money, hold the country closed for 9 months too long after COVID, the protest, the Greens, inflation, interest rates, insurance, working from home…..faaaaark its all just too much, get me another wine or low carb 00% beer…..
Murray Edridge the city missioner and about “as close as Bloxi gets to god”, said in an interview on HOTLINE – NZ’S fastest-growing talk-back show, minutes before this TOWN HALL, that he felt Wellington is in its worst place, outside war times—ever!
Karl Tiefenboucher cafe eis owner spoke of the building owner of The Paramount ciňe getting a 36k rates rise next year – anyone for an ice cream.
Steve Piper of the childcare sector spoke about Thorndon Quay being beaten to death by road cones.
Kevin Melville Sugarwoods bar owner, serial entrepreneur – Gold Award recipient and NZCIS visionary, spoke about the overall demise of Wellington and his hope to try and fix Courtenay Pl.
Graham Bloxham at ONE NETWORK spoke about “gin traps” and promised to improve his spelling, parking, get rid of Barbara McKerrow and a few other nepotistic public servants who have forgotten they are “servants” & he begged some to stand up and lead us out of this mess. He said these town halls are open to all. Patrick Morgan cycle lane guy, anyone can come, contribute and debate without concern of cancellation. Bloxham said it’s okay to be upset about 100% rate increases. It’s OK to vote again. He smugly took credit for moving Siobahn Proctor on, and was generally jovial and optimistic as usual. But a dark shadow has come over Wellywood and its all hands to the pump.
Forget the Wellington College bias condition; we must all unite, find solutions, expose & “smash down” the current power structures that are not only holding Wellington hostage but are designed to Kill it.
