Wellington Live reports a disturbing case from Porirua. A 49-year-old woman faces serious charges. She allegedly partially cut off her sleeping husband’s penis. Police say she acted over suspected infidelity. First, they charged her with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. This falls under Section 188(1) of the Crimes Act 1961.​

The attack happened late October 2025. Her husband woke in agony from blood loss. Paramedics rushed him to hospital for urgent care. Meanwhile, police arrested her at their home. Now, she appeared in Porirua District Court this week. Judge Grant Lumsden granted interim name suppression. He aimed to shield their children and the victim from extra harm.​

Her lawyer, Mike Antunovic, requested mental health reports. He stressed the family’s vulnerability. For now, the court remanded her on bail. She returns December 19 for review. No trial date yet. Additionally, this charge carries up to 14 years in prison.​
