Spotify Wrapped 2025 has arrived, and millions of listeners are jumping online to share their music habits from the past year. The annual release has become a global moment — and this year is one of the biggest yet.
The headline? Bad Bunny is the world’s most-played artist of 2025, with more than 19.8 billion streams. His hit album Debí Tirar Más Fotos also became the year’s biggest album, and his global rise has now set the stage for a Super Bowl halftime performance in 2026.
But the picture looks very different in the UK — and that’s what makes Spotify Wrapped so fascinating.
UK Listeners Had Their Own Top Star
While Bad Bunny dominated worldwide, he didn’t even make the UK Top 10.
Instead, Taylor Swift claimed the UK’s most-popular artist of 2025.
Spotify Wrapped began rolling out at 13:00 GMT on Wednesday, and fans immediately rushed to see which songs, artists, and podcasts shaped their year.
Global vs UK: What the Charts Reveal
Across the world, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars scored the biggest song of the year with their duet Die With A Smile.
But UK listeners chose Alex Warren’s track Ordinary as their number one.
Despite many new releases, older favourites continued to rule the charts. Songs by Lola Young, Billie Eilish, and Gigi Perez stayed in heavy rotation all year.
Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club — a track first released in 2020 — became the UK’s fourth most-streamed song of 2025.
Sabrina Carpenter’s album Short ’n’ Sweet took the top album spot in the UK thanks to hits like Espresso, Taste, and Please Please Please.
But her newer album Man’s Best Friend didn’t enter the Top 10.
Other Platforms Show a Similar Trend
YouTube and Apple Music told a familiar story.
The most-played song on both services was APT by Rosé and Bruno Mars.
YouTube listeners also showed a clear obsession with K-Pop Demon Hunters, with four of the soundtrack tracks landing in their Top 10.
That soundtrack also became Spotify’s second-biggest global album of the year.
Billie Eilish’s album Hit Me Hard and Soft ranked third.
Breakout Artists Who Defined 2025
Lola Young had a huge year. Her songs Messy and Not Like That Any More earned major streams, and she passed the 1-billion mark.
Chappell Roan returned to the spotlight, proving that older songs can still explode when fans rediscover them.
British singer Samira saw major gains too. Her track Valentine’s Day became her most-streamed song, and she discovered her biggest audiences were in the US and Germany — not the UK.
Artists Are Learning From Their Own Wrapped
Spotify Wrapped isn’t just for fans.
Artists get their own private insights showing where fans live, how many streams they gained, and which songs hit hardest.
Samira said the data helped her plan future gigs.
Rock musician Tom A. Smith, who supported Elton John in the past, said Wrapped showed how his inspirations shaped his songwriting this year.
But many artists say they still trust their gut more than the numbers.
Wrapped Is More Than Data — It’s a Global Moment
Spotify launched Wrapped in 2016, and it grows bigger every year.
It turns people’s listening habits into personalised stories, complete with graphics, colour themes, and now even a short film celebrating the year’s biggest stars.
Wrapped also includes fan leaderboards, showing whether you’re in the top 1% of listeners for your favourite artist — a feature that sparks both pride and a bit of fun competition.
But with that excitement comes influence.
Experts say Wrapped now shapes how people listen throughout the year, as fans try to “engineer” their next Wrapped.
Professor Richard Whittle from the University of Salford says Wrapped is “a powerful viral marketing tool” because it encourages millions to share their results online.
And he’s right — social feeds everywhere are already filled with colourful screenshots.
